Tovey Cres
Modern touches to a traditional family cottage
Our Tovey Cres renovation on Vancouver Island in Victoria, B.C. took a Tudor-style cottage and merged its traditional English architecture with contemporary elements. It seamlessly integrated the kitchen, a concealed appliance garage, and expansive living and entertaining spaces to promote openness and flexibility.
To enhance the natural light and showcase the panoramic bayside view of the Juan de Fuca strait, Sol Construction built French doors and a new dining terrace that naturally incorporated the classic home's aesthetic and its modern updates.
This was a truly personal project, as it's my parent's home and where I spent my childhood. As an adult, my family and I frequently visit to reconnect with family and friends. Working with my wife and interior designer, Andrea Rodman, we followed through on our family's aspiration for a modern open-concept layout - Making it ideal for hosting large gatherings of loved ones.
